Young Research Leaders

in Topological Materials and Beyond

Korea Institute for Advanced Science

Seoul, South Korea,

June 28 - July 3

Worshop Overview

The workshop series ‘Young Research Leaders in Topological Materials and Beyond’ has the goal to assemble scientists at the senior postdoc and junior faculty level for discussing ongoing scientific trends in the context of topological and strongly correlated matter, developing new research directions, and building long-lasting collaborations and networks among peers.

The scientific program facilitates a genuine exchange of ideas among colleagues by giving all participants the opportunity to contribute to the seminars and discussions, safeguarded by a  no-picture policy for scientific data.

This invitation-only workshop was initiated originally by the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids (MPI-CPfS). Due to the success of the first meeting in 2016 (organized in collaboration with the University of Mainz), it was quickly followed by workshops hosted at MPI-Dresden in 2017, the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2018, the Simons Flatiron Institute in 2019. After a hiatus the series resumed at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2024, followed by the most recent meeting at the Rice Global Paris Center in 2025.

This year's iteration will be held at the Korea Institute for Advanced Science, in Seoul, Korea from June 28, 2026 - July 03, 2026.
